As the 2023 National Teacher of the Year, Rebecka Peterson, a high school math teacher in Tulsa, Okla., has tried to help her students and her fellow teachers see the good that happens in the classroom.

Here, she shares how she promotes joy and stays positive, and offers advice for teachers who may be struggling.
