Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to be a powerful ally to teachers, enabling them to streamline instructional processes. While AI offers exciting opportunities for educators to enhance teaching and learning, according to an EdWeek Research Center survey, more than two-thirds of K–12 teachers aren’t using it. In order to leverage AI tools that help develop lesson plans, rubrics, assignments, and more, teachers require time to learn these systems effectively—time that they just don’t have. Solution Tree’s new on-demand, virtual event, Master Class: Educator AI, aims to provide K–12 educators with the knowledge and support necessary to confidently embrace AI, with the flexibility to work through the content at their own pace.

Solution Tree, a premier provider of K–12 professional development services and resources for educators, recognized that time is a major barrier to educators using AI and developed the Master Class: Educator AI on-demand virtual event with this in mind. More than 50,000 educators attend Solution Tree’s professional learning events annually across a variety of topic areas. Solution Tree Master Class: Educator AI delivers the same high-quality professional development experience participants have come to expect from Solution Tree’s in-person events.

And what experience is that? According to one leader at Solution Tree’s Summit on Professional Learning Communities at Work® in February, it’s “Walking away feeling empowered and knowing this is doable. It was helpful to have approaches to engage our staff in this work from both a teacher health perspective and a student learning perspective, and to know how I can help myself, our staff, and students get to the next level.”

Classroom- and curriculum-focused responsibilities take priority, and teachers do not have the bandwidth to explore the cutting-edge AI tools that are transforming the world. That’s why Solution Tree Master Class: Educator AI offers 365-day access to an asynchronous mini-series of 90-minute sessions, allowing participants to engage in AI topics on a schedule that works best for them. According to an EdWeek Research Center survey, 70% of teachers indicate they hadn’t received the professional development necessary to effectively use AI in the classroom. This event is an ideal solution for busy teachers and leaders looking to ensure their staff keep up with current trends and best practices.

Each of the event’s three 90-minute sessions—focused on learning generative AI basics, teaching, and empowering teams—are split into targeted five- to ten-minute segments, providing participants with flexibility and personalization. In addition, participants receive exclusive access to live Q&A office hours with expert presenters to gain insights into the latest AI news. Office hours will initially be held in September, October, and November with recordings to follow, allowing participants to ask questions specific to their school’s or district’s needs.

The expert presenters

Presenters William M. Ferriter, Adam Garry, and Paul Cancellieri have successfully implemented AI solutions across diverse classroom, school, and district settings and content areas. Their sessions will include actionable strategies for educators to put into practice immediately to create AI-empowered classrooms, schools, or districts. By participating in Solution Tree Master Class: Educator AI, educators will learn how to use AI as a valued thought partner or content creator to develop engaging content, analyze student data, collaborate with colleagues, plan interventions, and more.

During Ferriter’s AI webinar in December 2023, Using AI Tools to Facilitate Better Teaching and Learning, one educator commented, “In order to change teacher practice, teachers need to see the benefit, understand the ease of use, and have administrative support.” The Solution Tree Master Class: Educator AI checks each box.

AI is a tool that not only eases teachers’ workloads and allows them to do more meaningful work with students but also helps them meet the needs of all diverse learners in their classroom, said Ferriter. “The rise of generative AI is rapidly reshaping our world. As educators, mastering its capabilities unlocks potential for today’s classrooms. The three Solution Tree Master Class: Educator AI courses will equip you and students with the foundational skills necessary to adapt and thrive as AI transforms teaching and learning,” he said.
